Clarence  Francis Hudgell

C larence  Francis Hudgell was born in 1923 and lovingly known as Clarry the son of Charles Lawrence Hudgell and Daisy Edith Sykes, and husband of Ruby, from Australia.

When he was about 4 he contracted polio. His legs were pretty useless after that, and he got around on crutches until his arms gave out on him when he eventually went into a wheel chair.

What God took away with his legs he gave back tenfold with his hands, because there were so many Hudgells in one house, he built a bungalow out the back.

He made a cupboard for me when I was born and mum and dad still have that in their back bedroom.

Uncle Clarry yodelled in his younger days, and at mum and dads 50th wedding  anniversary recently, mum asked him to yodel just for her. Which he did. It is a lovely way to remember him.

He was also a boot maker by trade.

When ever you say you are a Hudgell people ask are you related to the boot maker Clarry? Of course my answer is always yes he is my uncle.

Clarence  Died 30th July 2006 aged 83

Jessie Florence Foran

 (nee Hudgell)

Within a 24 hour period Clarry's sister Jessie Florence born 1917 in Geelong Australia also died she was married to William (Bill) Foran and had 6 children

She was a lovely ball room dancer very petite not quite 5 foot tall and also a great grand mother.

She knew a lot about the Hudgells and we talked often about the family.
It is a memory of her I will hold in my heart for a long time to come.

Jessie died 31st July 2006 aged 89
