The Rev. T. Smetham, District Secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society in the South Metropolitan District (East), which also includes Kent and Sussex, will retire at the end of August after 25 years service on behalf of the Society. He will be succeeded by the Rev. E. W. G. HUDGELL, who had just returned from India, where he has gained first - hand knowledge of the Society's work.

HUDGELL On Jan 14. 1941 at Cairo, after a short illness, the Rev Ernest William George HUDGELL, M.A. (Oxon) Secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society for Bible Lands South, dearly loved only son of the Rev Robert William HUDGELL, late vicar of Cogges, Oxon, and Mrs HUDGELL and brother of Dr. Edith HUDGELL. His was a life of victory, for Gods Word was a lamp unto his feet.
