Assizes or Sessions: Convicted at Ipswich 2 July 1847 Sent for trial, at the Assizes or Sessions: Convicted at Ipswich 2 July 1847 Rendered in court Sentence: Six Months, first, mid and last weeks [illegible] Time will expire: 16th Dec 1847 Offence: Stealing silver jewellery Jailed for 6 months Elijah Hudgell (p.336) Offence: Stealing one Silver guard Chain, five Silver Shirt studs, one pair of Gold Ear drops and one Hair Chain Possessions: hat, coat, waistcoat, breeches, trousers, stockings, shoes shirts, handkerchiefs, knife, scarf. Petty Sessions Reports The Ipswich Journal Saturday October 23rd 1869 Lowestoft 1869 Leaving a Family Chargeable - Elijah Hudgell, labourer, was committed to goal for on month, with hard labour, for having left his wife and child chargeable to the parish of Lowesoft while he went fishing to the Westward. His wife was Phoebe Darkins who he married in 1854, they had 1 son Arthur George Hudgill.
June 27th 1873 Ipswich Petty Sessions Petty Sessions Reports The Ipswich Journal Saturday June 28th 1873 Lowestoft Elijah Hudgell, labourer, was bound over in the sum of £10 to keep the peace towards his wife for three months Even though they appear to have a rocky relationship they were still together in the 1881 census, Elijah died in 1887 and his wife in 1900.
